The TSS Earnslaw, known as the Lady of the LakeĪnother magnificently sunny day surely called for being on the water, and after walking around the lakefront and part of the gardens that’s exactly what we did as we embarked on a lake cruise aboard the TSS Earnslaw. 25 minutes of tearing up and down the river came and went too soon, but Tom believes that it is the best adrenaline activity we had done to date, and whilst not my favourite, it is certainly up there, with a smile rarely leaving my face throughout. The adrenaline didn’t stop in the open spaces either, as here our skipper Nick would let go of the steering wheel and plunge us into 360 degrees turns at high speed, great fun that caused a lot of dampness but laughter from everyone on board. Afterwards though I reckon we only got six or seven dimensions maximum! Activity two would be a real NZ highlight, as we embarked on a jetboat trip down the Shotover River, reaching speeds of up to 80km/h whilst the boat rushes through gorges and just inches from the rocky walls.

Both the rides were pretty fun, with our seats rocking all over the place, whilst we were being attacked by yeti, snakes, alligators and aliens, and sprayed by water and air. Tom had found a leaflet the previous day for a place called Vortex 12D Motion Theatre, which as the name suggests offered a rollercoaster-style simulator in 12D, which apparently is just 3D with wind, rain, snow and bubbles effects to name a few.
